The Students’ Union is implementing a new membership system that will continue to build the community and provide wider access to a multitude of sports. A 'Dragons Membership' fee of £35 will be applicable to all sports members to purchase before they are able to join individual clubs. This marks a significant change for sport at Westminster as we will take an active approach to ensure you know where your money goes and that you are receiving value for it. 

So, if you've ever wondered where your money goes, here's a few examples:

1. Firstly, and arguably most importantly, within this money all current Westminster students who buy a membership will receive a branded kit package which includes a hoodie made by our new kit partner Kukri. 

2. Secondly, the £35 also fully covers the provision of sport throughout the year. This includes, but is not exclusive to, training venues, coaching, fixtures, competition support and club development support. 

3. The membership also entitles you to be covered by the UWSU insurance policy, this is a vital component as we all know that injury in sport does occur! 

4. This a one-off payment for the entire academic year and entitles you to join as many of our sports clubs as you wish. 

The membership will bring our community together, making sure that all Dragons are more visible on campus and when competing. These are exciting times for Sport and the University of Westminster and I can’t wait to see what you all achieve in the 2019-2020 season.

Terms & Conditions of purchasing student group memberships at UWSU

 

By joining any student group you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of membership and the Student Group Code of Practice. We may process your personal information for carefully considered and specific purposes which are in the interests of delivering and enhancing our services as well as adding benefit for our members. Our privacy statement details when and how we will process this data as well as your rights relating to your data.

Group memberships can be bought at any time throughout the academic year, all annual memberships expire on the last day of the academic year.

The cost of each group membership may, for example, cover use of facilities, equipment and provision of coaches. This is subject to each group's budget and should be outlined on the group page.

 

Refund policy

We offer a 14 days’ cooling off period for new members, effective from the day you register for membership to any student group. This will allow you to cancel your subscription without any penalty, providing that the individual making the claim has not been selected to represent the University in any BUCS fixture or equivalent competition. If you wish to cancel your new member subscription, you must notify the Students’ Union at su-info@westminster.ac.uk within these 14 days in writing by e-mail. Membership fees will be refunded within 30 days of cancellation.

If the customer chooses to cancel the purchase after 14 days of the original subscription then the Union will not refund the payment as it considered that the individual will have benefited from being an activity member by having access to member information, obtaining any associated member discounts, and participated in the activity.

 

Group events and trials are considered by the Union as events and these fall under the purchasing tickets policy.

 

All other refunds are subject to the UWSU refunds policy.
